5X8 Vignette

A vignette photograph is created by using a masking template to block out busy or unwanted background details so that the viewer can concentrate on a main focal point. The edges of the image should be a soft blur, not a sharp hard edge. This soft edge is accomplished by using a long exposure time (12 or more seconds) and moving the masking template either up and down or in a gentle circular motion. There should be no "teeth" marks from the edges of the masking template visible in your photograph.
