Message to parents

Students are required to complete four years of English at EHS. A student must earn at least a D grade for the semester to receive credit. If a student fails an English class, it is recommended that the student take summer school to earn the make-up credit before taking the next English class in the sequence.

Getting to school and to class on time can be a problem for some students. A student is considered to be absent if he or she arrives more than five minutes late. Please be advised that after the 13th absence, the student will lose credit!

I am looking for volunteers to help students one-on-one with writing skills. If you would be interested in reading students' work and giving them feedback, I would appreciate your help. Students do not become better writers unless they write, but the paperwork load for an English teacher can become overwhelming. Please E-mail me if you would like to volunteer.

Would you be interested in speaking to one of my English classes about your profession? One of my goals is to introduce students to information about different jobs, and the types of writing and communication skills needed for those jobs. If you would be willing to talk with students about the type of job you do, please send me an E-mail message!
