4X5 Action Photograph

Action photographs freeze action as it is happening. To freeze action you should use a shutter speed of 1/250 or higher. Stopping extremely fast action requires a shutter speed of 1/1000 or higher. Sharp focus is critical in creating an action photograph. It is best to focus the camera with a large depth-of-field using a small lens aperture (f.22 to f.11). If there is not enough available light to use a small lens aperture you can use a slower shutter speed (down to 1/60) and the technique know as PANNING.
