Cloud chart
You will be creating a chart which will show the basic types of clouds. For this project, you will need three sheets of 11 x 18 paper. The paper will be folded once and will be eventually stapled together. The folded paper will look like this. The types of clouds that will be included are found on page 427 or you can visit this website which has some great pictures as examples. You can also try this website. There will be five categories of clouds: low, middle, high, precipitation, and other. This will include stratus, altostratus, cirrostratus, cumulonimbus, cumulus, altocumulus, cirrocumulus, nimbostratus, stratocumulus, and cirrus. The "other" types of clouds are mammatus, lenticular, and Kelvin-Helmholtz. Type these names into Google images for pictures. Extra credit can be earned for this project by creating a mobile instead of a paper chart. Talk to the teacher if you plan on doing this. You will be graded on placing the clouds at the correct level (for example, placing cirrostratus with the other low clouds would be bad), completeness, neatness, and labeling (this includes spelling). "Cartoon" clouds will not be accepted. They need to be realistic looking.
