Keyboarding

Keyboarding overview

The ability to touch type is a valuable skill in today's world where so much is done by computer. The main purpose of this class is to have students acquire basic typing skills. There will be, in addition, some time spent on navigating the internet, internet safety, and introductions to Word and PowerPoint. On a daily basis, students will alternate between typing and working on a tutorial. The reason for this split time is to avoid RSI (repetitive strain injury can happen when you have novice typists). Grading will be based upon completed in-class assignments, typing tests, and use of class time.

The first task students will do is complete the first five lessons of this tutorial on Internet Explorer. Internet Explorer is a browser and it is the one that students will be using. They will need to be able to navigate quickly through sites, as much of my class is done through the internet.
