Keyboarding overview

The ability to touch type is a valuable skill in today's world where so much is done by computer. The main purpose of this class is to have students acquire basic typing skills. There will be, in addition, some time spent on Internet safety and on tutorials of Word and PowerPoint. On a daily basis, students will alternate between typing and a study hall (reading, doing homework). The reason for this is twofold: one, there are more students than computers and two, it is important to avoid RSI (repetitive strain injury) when you have novice typists. Grading will be based upon completed in-class assignments, typing tests, and use of class time.
