Algebra 1/2
This book is published by Saxon Publishing.
Philosophy
The philosophy of this book is that students learn by doing and that students cannot fully learn a concept on the day that it is introduced. There will be three or four problems of the new concept and the rest will be review. The new concept will be visited again many times throughout the year.
Important points
- The beginning of the book is easy. It is review. New concepts are introduced as we move into the autumn months.
- Do the hard problems first. I can help you class; I can't help you at home.
- Each problem has, in parenthesis below it, the number of the lesson where that concept was introduced. You can look back in the book and look at the examples if you get stuck.
- Tests are where you prove that you have done the homework. If you skip doing homework, you skip learning and that will eventually show up on your test scores.
