Come See Bears

Come face-to-face with awe-inspiring grizzlies. Witness black bears foraging for food and climbing trees, just as they do in the wild. Experience the wonder of Northwest Trek's bear exhibit, the largest natural outdoor display of grizzly and black bear in a North American zoological facility.

Experience Nature Up-Close and Personal

There are many ways to partake of the Northwest Trek experience. Climb aboard the 50-minute, naturalist-guided tram tour and see native Northwest animals roaming freely. Watch bighorn sheep, caribou, elk and others wandering through 435 acres, ranging from meadows to forests, and swamps to rocky ridges.

Afterwards stroll the tree-lined paths around Northwest Trek and discover the park's other residents including wolves, cougar, raccoon, otter, and birds-of-prey.

Hands-on learning at the Cheney Discovery Center

There are so many surprises in store for you at the Cheney Discovery Center. See thousands of bees in a working beehive, then visit the touch tank to pet live amphibians and reptiles. Nature games and biofacts round out the activities where adults and children alike can spend hours in this fun learning environment.

Stop by the Gift Shop or Fir Bough Cafe

Location & Hours

Located on State Route 161, 17 miles south of Puyallup (35 miles from Tacoma, 55 miles from Seattle), Northwest Trek is open daily at 9:30 am March through October. Open Friday, Saturday, Sunday and selected holidays the remainder of the year. Tram tours run on the hour from 10 am until closing, depending on the season. Call for schedule.

Admission

Adults, $7.85; Seniors, $7.00; Youth ages 5-17, $5.50; Tots ages 3-4, $3.50. Discounted rates available for groups of 15 or more with advance reservations.
